Besides incorporating the new robot cell in our own production line we have recently also accepted a robotisation project for an external customer, this time in the field of food processing instead of machining.
Our customer already had a robot and wanted to use it to unstack large plastic crates. The crates are filled, have a weight of around 25 kg and are stacked in layers of five, nine layers high. This implied a few challenges:
- accessibility in relation to the robot’s reach
- the (small) area in which the robot would have to work
- the need for a working environment that meets strict hygiene requirements because of the food involved.
Right now we are working on this project in our hall. It will then be extensively tested, after which we will install it at our customer’s production site in early 2018.
